Pepper Smoking 101 (2 Parts)

If you find yourself with an abundance of hot peppers during peak season and want to learn how to transform them into a spice, this is the workshop for you!

Join farmers Maya and Alexx for a 2-day intensive on chili pepper cultivation, smoking, and storage preparation. During our time together we’ll connect with a variety of chili peppers, walk through setting up a smoker and how to turn a grill into a smoker, go over smoking materials, and discuss tips for success with storing your precious peppers. Then we’ll close out our time with participants getting to make their own custom chili flake blend or chili salt. Refreshments will be offered during both sessions.

This is a 2-part series that builds upon each session. While you’re welcome to attend individual sessions, participants who are able to commit to attending both sessions will be given preference when registering. Attendance will be capped at 25 people. Participants who receive a spot will be notified shortly after registering.

  • Part 1: Pepper Culture + Harvest Friday Sept. 18th (5:30-7:30pm)

  • Part 2: Pepper Smoking Essentials  Saturday Sept. 19th (1-4pm)

Pepper Smoking 101 is a Deep Routes offering in partnership with The New York Restoration Project happening at the ENYF Youth Farm.
