THE SOUL OF FOOD Session 4: Backyard Pepper Smoking 101

If you find yourself with an abundance of hot peppers during peak season and want to learn how to transform them into a spice, this is the workshop for you!

Join farmers Maya and Alexx for an afternoon of intro to chili pepper smoking & storage.

During our time together we’ll connect with chili peppers, walk through setting up a smoker, smoking materials, and tips for success with storing your precious peppers. Then we’ll close out our time with participants getting to make their own custom chili flake blend or chili salt. Light refreshments will be offered before we dive into things.

This session concludes this year’s The Soul of Food, a hands-on Deep Routes workshop series honoring the foodways that connect plants, peoples, and lands across Afro-Indigenous diasporas.
