Soulful Seed Library Shed Build!

We kicked off the first phase of the Soulful Seed Library with a group build of the shed this past Sunday! This is the shed where the seeds will be stored and members will have access to a variety of local and commercially-grown seeds.

Farmer Alexx (ENY Youth Farm Manager and Lead Seed Keeper at Deep Routes) co-led the build with youth farmer Matthew and Maya. We started the day with some light refreshments and music to welcome folks before we got into the various components of the shed. Many hands really did make light work as we got to piecing together the parts, and within a couple hours the library shed was standing tall!

There’s some remaining components needed before the shed is done, from putting down some pavers for a foundation to getting the shed filled with shelving, decor, and record keeping tools for the seeds. The idea of painting the shed’s exterior was thrown out by a couple of folks, so that might be happening at some point as well.
