Field Peas
Field peas were first domesticated in the West African Savanna forests of Cameroon and Nigeria. They are heat-loving legumes that grow bushy vines that bear flowers with butterfly-like petals that can range in color from creamy white to purple and pink. These flowers are responsible for producing the pods which hold the beans, which have for centuries been incorrectly monikered as peas. You can learn more in our field peas profile!
